Editing, Archiving, and Restoring Facilities
Facility fields and their accepted ranges, who can change them, what archiving cascades to, and exactly what a restore does and does not bring back.

Who can change what
Anyone in your organization can view facilities. Creating, editing, archiving, restoring, and changing the facility photo are admin-only, and so is editing the location tree. Every one of these writes to the audit log with the user and the action.
The fields
Name, facility type, and address are free text. Address is also what places the site on the map.
- Latitude must be between -90 and 90, and longitude between -180 and 180. A facility without both cannot appear on any map surface.
- Square footage must be between 0 and 1,000,000,000.
- Year built must be between 1700 and 2100.
- Floors must be between 0 and 1000. This is a descriptive number; it does not create floor nodes in the location tree, which you build separately in Location hierarchy and naming.
- Energy rate per kWh is an optional per-site tariff override. Left empty, the site uses the organization rate. Set it only where a site genuinely bills differently.
- Region is an optional grouping label for reporting.
Out-of-range and non-numeric values are rejected at save time with a message naming the field.
The facility photo
A facility can carry a photo, shown on its card and at the top of its page. It is stored privately and served through expiring signed URLs, so the image is not on a public address. Removing it does not affect anything else on the record.
Archiving
Archiving is a soft delete. To confirm it you must type the facility's name exactly, because the action reaches a long way past the facility record. Archiving a facility also archives, in one transaction, its assets, work orders, PM schedules, maintenance requests, and location nodes, all stamped with the same timestamp. The facility goes to the recycle bin, retained for 60 days, with the cascade recorded on the entry. Nothing is destroyed at this point; the rows are marked deleted and drop out of lists, counts, and reports.
Restoring
Restore from the recycle bin within the 60 days. It reverses the cascade with one precise rule: restore only revives rows carrying the exact timestamp of that archive. Anything deleted separately before the facility was archived stays deleted. If someone archived three assets last month and then archived the facility today, restoring the facility brings back everything the facility archive took and leaves those three assets in the bin. After 60 days the entry leaves the recycle bin and the data is no longer restorable through the product.
