Placing and Managing Asset Pins
Enter edit mode, place a pin from the unplaced-assets tray, move or remove it, and read the pin colours and the plan-readiness gate before you trust the plan.

What a pin is
A pin ties one asset record to one spot on a floor plan image, so a technician can open a plan and see where the equipment actually is. It is stored on the asset as normalized coordinates against that plan. It does not decide which room the asset belongs to; that stays with the location tree.
Place a pin, step by step
- 01Open the facility, go to Locations, and open the floor plan for the floor or building you want.
- 02Press Edit pins, or press E on the keyboard. The plan switches to edit mode.
- 03Pick an asset from the unplaced assets tray. It lists assets in this floor or building subtree that do not have a pin yet.
- 04Click the plan where the equipment sits. The pin drops there and is saved.
- 05Repeat for the rest of the tray, then leave edit mode.
In edit mode, drag a pin to move it. Outside edit mode, click a pin to open the asset's detail panel, which shows what the asset is and how much work is open against it.
If the plan asks you to reconcile first
A plan with unreviewed parsed rooms shows a Reconcile rooms before pinning banner and a plan-readiness panel reading Reconciliation needed. The detected room shapes are still unverified evidence. Work through the room review first, or dismiss the shapes and pin against the image directly. See Reviewing parsed rooms and plan readiness.
If an asset will not pin
The tray only offers assets in the subtree that owns the plan. An asset that does not appear is almost always assigned somewhere else in the tree, or is sitting in Unassigned. Fix the asset's location first, then pin it. Do not pin the nearest similar-looking asset to clear the tray. An unplaced asset is an honest gap; a wrong pin is a wrong answer someone will act on. See Unlocated assets and location cleanup.
Pin colours
Pin colour carries the asset's risk band, shown in the legend at the bottom right of the plan: High 80+, Med, Low, and OK. Risk scoring is an Intelligence-tier capability. Without it, pins carry no risk colour and the plan is a spatial view rather than a risk view.
Removing and correcting pins
Unpin an asset placed on the wrong plan and pin it on the right one. Deleting a parsed room shape does not move or remove pins, and neither does deleting a floor plan image. Deleting a location does clear the pins of every asset in its subtree, because those assets have been reparented.
