Track Energy Consumption and Cost

Turn cumulative kWh meter readings into consumption, estimated spend, intensity, trends, top consumers, and site comparisons on the Energy Consumption page.

Updated September 15, 2026

Before the page can report

The Energy, then Consumption page turns cumulative energy-meter readings into an operational view of use and cost. Energy tracking is included on Professional and above; see billing and plans for what yours includes.

Add a meter of type energy with unit kWh to an asset, then record at least two readings. Consumption is the difference between cumulative readings, so one reading cannot produce a total. Readings can be entered by an operator or received from a configured IoT source. Rivolq labels provenance; it does not call manually entered data live sensor data. Meter setup is covered in asset meters, thresholds, and condition PMs.

What the page shows

  • Total metered consumption for the selected window.
  • Estimated spend when an energy rate is configured.
  • Intensity and reporting coverage.
  • Consumption over time.
  • Top-consuming assets.
  • Biggest movers against each asset's own prior period.
  • Breakdown by facility.

Use the facility selector and the 30-, 90-, or 365-day window to change scope.

Configure cost

Admins can set an organization-wide cost per kWh under Settings, then Energy, and add per-site overrides where tariffs differ. A blank rate means cost is not configured, so Rivolq hides spend instead of presenting zero-cost electricity.

Spend is an estimate: metered kWh multiplied by the configured rate. It is not a reconciled utility bill and does not include demand charges, time-of-use pricing, taxes, or other tariff components.

Empty states

  • No energy meters: add an energy meter to an asset.
  • No readings in this window: choose a longer window or record another reading.
  • Partial coverage: treat portfolio totals as the metered subset, not as whole-building utility truth.

For how these figures fit the wider reporting surface, see understanding analytics.
